My Top 100 Songs On Repeat in 2012

Have you ever wondered how many times you repeat a song? I logged into my Rdio account and looked at my play count in my history of the songs I listened to most over 2012. So, for your enjoyment/boredom… here it is in order of Song title – Artist – Album Name. (There are a few key albums missing because I only listen to them on my iPod such as For King & Country and such, but this is pretty accurate with very few exceptions, I was surprised by it myself, but also not surprised…haha.) Also look for the hidden links of some videos scattered throughout the blog post.

My top 100 played songs in 2012 according to Rdio – beginning with the 3 most played albums:

Music Monday: Even When I’m at My Darkest

is it possible that the Lord can use me at my worst?
even when I don’t feel like I have everything together?
even when I don’t feel okay?
even when I didn’t practice everyday?
even when I didn’t pray today?
even when I’m in the middle of a muddy emotional-relational-place of healing process that leaves me feeling all sorts of emotions-feelings-hurts-and very raw.

is it possible that when I admit all these things God can still use me?
is it possible that God would rather use the broken pieces then the picture perfect version of me?
is it possible that God loves me even at my worst? even the puffy eyes, snot-tears, makeup running down my face-me? even the single-girl-blues-me? even the in-the-middle-of-healing-process me?
is it possible that God can do more with messy me than “perfect” me?

{I started writing these thoughts a few days ago, and was mostly just thinking about them. I just downloaded the new Ascend the Hill album and this song stuck out in a big way.}

Even When I’m At My Darkest by Ascend the Hill from their new album, O Ransomed Son

Even When I’m At My Darkest (by Ascend the Hill) lyrics

Before I took a breath you knew me
You called me by my name
Even when I’m at my darkest
You know me all the same

Every hair on my head you’ve numbered
And every thought within
Even when I cannot see you
I feel you closer than my skin

In my darkest dreams they find me
My failures haunt me in the night
Broken image of creation
Twisting, turning, hiding from the light

Then I heard a voice so clear
Like deep calling deep and I could hear
I felt your spirit drawing near
Breathing life in me; destroying every fear

My spirit woke with a hopeful plea
Each fighting breath resonating in me
You broke the chains to set me free
You gave me a song to lift my eyes and sing

Lift up your head
Lift your head, ’cause help has come
Lift up your heart
Lift your heart, His will be done
Lift up your hands
Lift your hands and praise the one
Lift up your song
Lift your song O Ransomed Son

Before I took a breath you knew me
You called me by my name
Even when I’m at my darkest
You know me all the same

I Need A Father by Starfield

Hold me somebody
Don’t let me be alone
Love me, stay with me
I am dying to be known
My heart cries out

I need a Father
Whose love will never fail me
A friend like no other
Whose trusted arms will hold me
I need a Father

I am wounded
But I tuck the pain away
Free me, heal me
I don’t want to be afraid
My heart cries out

Here’s my heart
Be tender, please
Let me know your love for me
Here’s my heart
I’m on my knees
I will trust
‘Cause I believe

You are my Father
Your love will never fail me
A friend like no other
Your trusted arms will hold me
You are my Father

Slow: Music Monday

I’ve had a few songs on repeat this week. This is one of them. I was sharing some stuff about this song with my friend Rowe, and heard the truth come out of my mouth and hit my ears.

Love moves slow.

Love is patient.

God makes everything beautiful in His time.

At just the right time.

Faith is not a fire as much as it’s a glow….

Song lyrics for Audrey Assad’s song, Slow

You’ve drawn so close that it’s hard to see you
And you speak so soft that it’s hard to hear you
I guess that’s what I get for inviting you in
Because you took me at my word, and now I know

that faith is not a fire
as much as it’s a glow
a quiet, lovely burning
underneath the snow
and it’s not too much
it’s just enough to get me home
Love moves slow
love moves slow

You’ve grown so dear that it’s hard to miss you
and You’ve come so near that it’s hard to feel you
I guess that’s what I get when I let you move
because you take me at my word, and now I know

that faith is not a fire
as much as it’s a glow
a steady humble lamp
light in the window

And it’s not too much
it’s just enough to get me home,
because love moves slow
love moves slow.

I heard that faith moves mountains.
I know it moves my feet
to follow you

And maybe I’m a mountain
because it’s moving me to follow you

And my faith is not a fire as much as it’s a glow
A little burning ember in my weary soul
And it’s not too much, it’s just enough to give me hope
Because your love moves slow
Yeah, your love moves slow

So I move slow
because you move slow
Love moves slow
Let’s move slow

Music Monday: God is Able

My soundtrack for my Sabbath Monday is the latest Hillsong Live album. So far the songs I’ve repeated the most are “Unending Love” and “You Are More”. I started listening to it last night on spotify.

YOU ARE MORE

On the day I called
You answered me
And the hope in my soul increased
I lift my hands
And turn my eyes
To the God who heals my heart
And gives me peace

CHORUS:
You are more than
My words could ever say
You are Lord over all
Over all of my days
I will see this season through
I will fix my eyes on You
Only You
Only You

VERSE 2:
I worship You
And lift You high
God forever let Your name be glorified
I lift my voice
And sing Your name
For you gave Your life to cleanse my sin
And took away my shame

Hallelujah
The earth will sing
May Your name be glorified
Hallelujah
The earth will sing
May Your name be glorified

The melody is sweet and absolutely beautiful, but what I keep hearing is the lines I bolded above, in the chorus, I will see this season through, I will fix my eyes on you.

Music Monday – Awaken by Elevation Worship

I’ve been trying to put words together in a manner that effectively tells the story of what God has been doing in my life the past 6 weeks. As I was listening to this song…I realized…this is part of that story. I didn’t write it. But it tells alot of the story of this dark-hard time. The pit I was stuck in. This is a large part of that story.

Here are the lyrics. The video of the song is below, I have the remix version and you can get this song and a few others for free HERE

AWAKEN by ELEVATION WORSHIP (Elevation Church)

chorus:
Awaken my heart
Awaken my soul
to tell of all you’ve done
Awaken my heart
Awaken my soul
to sing of your great love

verse 1:
I lift my cry to you oh God
only you can save
I will not fear the darkness here
where the lions wait

prechorus:
You send from heaven and you rescue me
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wing

verse 2:
I will run hard into your arms
Lord you carry me
Despite my pain your plan remains
You will deliver me

God you lifted me out
God you lifted me out
and I’ll tell all the world

Hope that this song blesses and encourages you. Especially if you’re in a pit or facing darkness.

New Song: You Can Have

Hmmm… there’s a story behind this one…but I’ll save it for another day. It’s fairly self-explanatory, and somewhat related to one of the points of the sermon this week:

3.  GOD’S GREATEST CHALLENGE IS TO GET ME TO A PLACE WHERE I AM WILLING TO SURRENDER MY TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE FOR HIS CAUSE.

and from stuff we talked about in small group last night. Recorded with the SoundCloud app on my phone on a piano at somebody’s house. One take. Written in a couple hours, start to finish, to recording. Phew!

by Lori Joanne Quick © Copyright 2011

verse:

You can have all my money
It was You who provided
You can have all my time
It was You who gave me breath

chorus:

You can have
all of me
all my gifts and talents and my stuff
For every good and perfect gift
Comes from you

bridge:

You can have it all (repeat)
You can have all of me

I believe, help my unbelief (repeat)
I trust in you, rid my fear and doubt
I trust You Lord, rid my fear and doubt
